Clearwater Beach Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival
April 13-22 2018
10-day Festival Celebrates Clearwater’s Sugar Sand Beaches.
“Sugar Sand Tales” will be the theme of the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit at the 3rd Annual Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival, April 17-26, 2015 on Clearwater Beach.
A 21,000 square-foot tent will be filled with sand-sculpted art crafted by world-class sculptors using Clearwater’s internationally-famous sugar sand. A thousand tons of Clearwater sand will transform into an enchanted story-land, featuring classic fairy tales and modern-day literary adventures, where reality and fantasy are brought to life.
Each year, a new theme is featured. Team Sandtastic will return for a third year to sculpt the exhibit and compete in the Master Sand Sculpting Competition, which will allow visitors a chance to watch the masters at work. The ten-day sculpting festival includes a variety of free activities including sand sculpting clinics, speed sand demonstrations, a children’s play area, extended Sunsets at Pier 60 hours, fireworks and entertainment. Last year’s festival drew 30,000 visitors.
The festival is a joint effort between Sunsets at Pier 60 and the City of Clearwater that has become one of the most popular activities of the City of Clearwater’s annual Fun ‘n Sun Festival. This year, it has been designated an official Clearwater Centennial event as the city celebrates its 100th birthday. Sunsets at Pier 60 Daily Festival will celebrate its 20-year anniversary in 2015.
